Gaymsters is pronounced GAME-stirs. Although a gamester is defined as a
habitual gambler, no wagering is
allowed at our games.
We play “party bridge”. We laugh, have fun, bid and play the hands, but we are definitely not always serious.
We do have some serious players among us who compete at tournaments nationwide, but don’t be daunted.
They give beginners, novices, and casual players the chance to grow and learn from their expertise.
Knowledge gained from discussion of a certain hand can be golden. Our environment is more for learning,
improving
one’s game, and ENJOYING it.
We have no dues, but contributions are occasionally requested to buy supplies like playing cards, score pads, pencils, disposable eating utensils and plates, plastic cups, etc.
We play almost every Tuesday and Sunday, except if a major holiday lands on one of those days. All scheduled
game days and times are posted for each month on the Game Schedule page. Click on the
Q above for times and the
K for location!
The Tuesday games at CoH “officially” start at 6:30 p.m., although some early-birds arrive before 6:00. Games run until 9:00 p.m. or so (we complete the round), but no later (the staff usually wants to go home by then!). One does not have to arrive exactly on time; players often arrive when they can and move into the mix, but try to arrive early enough to get in some good playing time.
The Sunday game sessions “officially” start at 2:00 p.m. and run until at least 5:00 p.m., but may go later if there is another activity going on at the church. Sessions at a member’s home (ususally the second and fourth Sundays of each month) can go beyond 5:00, but at the sole discretion of the host.
The Club has also been known to throw a combination potluck/bridge party around certain holidays such as Christmas, Labor Day, Memorial Day, or Independence Day. One of our many gracious members typically offers his home to serve as a venue.
We all bring snack foods and/or soft drinks to share at regular sessions. A package of any store-bought or home-made cookie, cake or candy is fine. Other suggestions include snack chips, pretzels or a large bottle of soda. Healthy alternatives like grapes or strawberries are always welcome too. We’ve had cake and ice cream on birthday occasions, and one generous soul once went to the extreme of baking a rigatoni.
Please note that our games are Zero Tolerance for hate and discrimination. Rude behavior is not tolerated. Things like that only detract from the game, thus ruining the reason we are there.

One can also drop by during a game session at the Cathedral of Hope on Tuesday nights or the first and third Sunday afternoons of each month. You are always welcome to move into the “mix”, get comfortable, and enjoy the logic, strategies and challenges involved.
